MASSIVart’s hospitality project wins prestigious award for Best Art Integration in Interior Design

We are pleased to share that MASSIVart and Sid Lee Architecture’s recent project at the W Montreal hotel won the Grands Prix du Design award for Best Art Integration in Interior Design.

The Grands Prix du Design is an annual competition that celebrates excellence in design, architecture, and the built environment. Recognized by the Quebec community since its inception in 2007, the competition is now in its 14th edition and features candidates and winners from over 30 different countries.

To bring the W Montreal‘s project to life, MASSIVart spent one year working alongside Sid Lee Architecture on the integration of artworks into their architectural vision. The challenge was to amplify the guest experience through art. It resulted in three main art and design pieces permanently integrated in the breathtaking lobby and four more additional artworks in the conference rooms.

To commemorate this exciting win, we would like to take this opportunity to highlight Toronto artist Camille Jodoin-Eng’s artwork.

The intention was to magnify the sense of arrival at W Montreal so we worked with Jodoin-Eng to create an impressive golden and luminous installation, inspired by a bank vault as a reminder of the building’s roots, which used to be a banking institution.

“You can ask for a higher average daily rate (ADR) when you have quality art in your hotel vs just a piece of art that you can buy at any common store. What we have at W Montreal is unique: There’s only our property that has it, and people are willing to pay a premium to have this experience.”
