DFW AIRPORT, Texas (April 22, 2025) – Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) today announced the next phase of a public call for artists as part of the airport’s ongoing capital construction program, DFW Forward. The DFW art program is seeking a mix of local, national and international artists from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines to fill a total of more than a dozen signature installation opportunities.
This second phase of a multi-part call for artists introduces a variety of site-specific commissions for Terminal C. They include a curated series of art exhibits and digital artworks designed to energize the redesigned baggage claim areas, offering dynamic, evolving art experiences that highlight emerging talent. This will be DFW’s first curations to showcase rotating art exhibitions. The locations will highlight local and regional artists giving customers a taste of North Texas talent.
DFW Airport’s public art program currently features about 30 permanent installations. The collection will grow by 60 percent over the next six years as it adds 17 new installations over these four phases. The airport is committed to commissioning art that enhances the customer experience, transforms public spaces, and reflects the cultural vibrancy of North Texas. The selection process for the first phase, focusing on two site-specific locations in Terminal C, is ongoing. These new installations will serve as visual landmarks, creating moments of inspiration, reflection and connection for the millions of travelers passing through DFW each year.
Future calls for artists will include additional ceiling installations, respite areas for customers and other art encounters throughout the new facilities. Each call will encourage participation from emerging to internationally recognized artists, while also seeking different forms of art ranging from suspended installations to static sculptures and digital experiences.
Global art consultancy and production agency MASSIVart is managing the call for artists, which will include significant participation from the local art community. A panel of veteran North Texas art experts will provide input and recommendations on the submissions.
Artists interested in learning more or submitting their work should visit the Art at DFW website starting today. Additional calls for artists will be announced separately.
