Auberge Resorts Collection, the leading brand of luxury, one-of-a-kind hotels and resorts, and MASSIVart, unveiled a new unique cultural art program featuring a thought-provoking series of artist residencies and immersive installations at six Auberge Resorts Collection properties in the United States and Mexico.

One of the first two destination-driven unveilings happened at the Mayflower Inn & Spa, Auberge Resorts Collection (Washington, Conn.) with Quebec-based artist Marie-Claude Marquis.

For this installation, titled Too Tired to Sleep, Marquis created an immersive experience by playfully exploring the concept of how society idealizes our hectic lives and busy schedules.

Having recently faced a time where we collectively experienced emotional fatigue as we were forced to live most aspects of our lives within the confinement of four walls, Marquis explores how it is time for us to retreat and enjoy a sense of calmness so one can come back strong and mentally present.

Inspired by its comforting and magnificent environment, Marquis felt Mayflower Inn & Spa offers the ideal experience to slow down, share, and connect.

In continuing with her artistic approach, she uses a combination of vintage and found objects for the installation, including typographical interventions of bold, humourous, and touching messages.

Marie-Claude Marquis is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice touches on both graphic design and visual arts, and her inspiration comes from antiques, nostalgia, reducing her environmental impact, and her Quebec Identity.
